Anthony (Tony) Grant Pinfold, 82, of Hickory, passed away December 15, 2011 at Lutheran Home West.
Born October 8, 1929 in Aldershot, England, he was the son of the late Jim and Ivy King Pinfold.
As a teenager in London, Tony and his family survived the Blitz during WWII. After moving to America at age 17, he lived in Wisconsin and graduated from Wisconsin State College in 3 years. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. He worked in personnel for Ford Motor Co. in California, Pa., and Michigan and retired after 38 years. He was an avid reader and was an electronics buff. He was a patient man who loved his countries and was very devoted to his family.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Elaine Walters Pinfold, two sisters, Marcia Hudson of Santa Fe, New Mexico, Susan Vogler of Switzerland; 3 cousins, Kathleen Smythe of Perth, Australia, John Snape of Shropshire, UK, Joan King of Shropshire, UK and a number of nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 8:00 PM Sunday, December 18th, 2011 at Bass-Smith Funeral Home Chapel conducted by the Revs. Harold Skinner and Kurtis Massey. The family will receive friends from 7:00 – 8:00 PM prior to the funeral service.
