Frank DeWitt Miller, 87, joined God in Heaven on Monday, February 5, 2018.

He was born May 14, 1930 as an only child to Frank and Byrd Miller in Newberry, SC.

He graduated from Clemson University when it was a military college and went on to serve honorably as an Army Lieutenant in the Korean War. He majored in textiles and passionately loved his work. He always said, “If you love what you do, it really isn’t work.” He was Vice-President of VanWaters and Rogers, Inc. and then became the proprietor of Fabric Craft, Inc. We are still not sure if he ever really retired.

In his later years, sitting outside enjoying nature, soaking up the sun was a hobby he treasured, while enjoying ripe SC peaches and some sweet summer watermelon.

He has left behind his loving wife, Sherlie, whom he cherished for nearly 45 years; 4 children: Dean Miller and wife Sherry, Brenda Miller Caudill and husband Fred, Brett Miller and wife Elisa, Lesley Miller Davis and husband Tim; 2 step-sons: Brent Stine and wife Mary, Dale Stine; 14 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

DeWitt had such a passion for life and the people he met along his journey. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

Services will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at Christ Church in Mtn. View, 2416 Zion Church Road, Hickory, NC where he was a grateful member. Pastor Charles Kyker will lead the services. A private burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the church.
