James William “Pep” Munday 89 of Granite Falls went home to be with his Lord on Saturday, March 2, 2019 at Caldwell County Hospice Palliative Care Hudson.
Born November 11, 1929 in York County, S.C. he was the son of the late James Wilson Munday and Beulah Louise Teague Munday. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother Edward Munday and sister Ruby Donley.
“Pep” was a member of Bowling Green Baptist Church and a United States Army Veteran.
He is survived by his loving wife Betty Bolick Munday of the home; two daughters Pam Munday of Granite Falls, Terry Munday Starnes and husband Terry of Granite Falls; three sons David Munday of Hickory, Tim Munday of Granite Falls, and Jason Munday and wife Shelly of Lincolnton; eight grandchildren Matthew Winkler and wife Tracy, Whitney Starnes, Wyatt Starnes and wife Alicia, Brandon Munday and Analise Baheman, Peri Munday, Garrett Munday, Grace Munday, and Hannah Alexander; three great grandchildren Lily Winkler, Emma Winkler, and Paisley Starnes; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 5, 2019, 2:00 p.m. at Dry Ponds Baptist Church with Pastor Rob Evans officiating. Burial will follow in the Sunset Hills Cemetery, Granite Falls with full military honors provided by the Caldwell County Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at Dry Ponds Baptist Church.
Serving as pallbearers will be representatives of Granite Falls Police Dept. and Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office. Honorary pallbearers will be David Bates, Sonny Walker, Paul Brittain, Johnny Hart, Tim Hardee, and Dan Hardee.
