John Franklin Fox, 87, of Hickory, passed away Sunday, January 5, 2014 at Catawba Regional Hospice in Newton.
Mr. Fox was born November 11, 1926 in Utica, Nebraska to the late Ransom Cloud Fox and Doris Anstine Fox. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Doris Pearson Fox, a brother and 2 sisters.
He was a retired motorcycle mechanic.
Survivors include two daughters, Lynne Fox Newton and husband Stuart of Georgetown, S.C. and Sandra Fox Culp of Hickory, a granddaughter, Anna Newton of Atlanta, GA, a grandson, Zach Newton of Washington, DC.
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM, Monday, January 6, 2014 in Bass-Smith Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dan Duke officiating. The family will receive friends Monday from 12:00-1:00 PM prior to the service. Burial will follow in Forest Hills Cemetery in Morganton with graveside military honors provided by American Legion Post #48 of Hickory.
