John Henry Fox, 87, of Taylorsville passed away Friday, May 25, 2012 at Palliative Care Center & Hospice of Catawba Valley in Newton.
Mr. Fox was born in Alexander County to the late Jerry Cicero Fox and Mary Etta Brinkley Fox. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter, Debra Allen, a son, Johnny Fox, three brothers, Rum, Cief and William Ray Fox, three sisters, Edna Bowman, Lela Starnes and Cordie Bolick.
Mr. Fox was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church, was retired from Harper Motor Company, Armstrong Ford and Fox's Wrecker service. As a veteran race car co-owner, his No. 24 won several track championships at Hickory Motor Speedway.
Survivors include three sons, Linney Fox and wife Renee of Ellendale, Les Fox and Fiance Ann Teague of Hickory and David Fox of Bethlehem, two daughters, Melba Wright of Taylorsville and Kathy Richey and husband Chris of Bethlehem, grandchildren, Michael Fox, Michelle Mugatha, Alex Fox, Tina Powell, Gina Bartasi, Jonathan Wright and Joey Richey, seven great grandchildren.
The family would like to give a special thanks to his long time caregiver, Diane Mingus of Bethlehem.
The funeral service will be held at 3:00 P.M. Sunday, May 27, 2012 at Bethlehem Baptist Church with the Rev. Gary Jennings officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 3:00 P.M. prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
