Linda Janet Cleveland, 71, of Hickory passed away very suddenly and unexpectedly on Monday, February 4, 2019.
Born in Rockford, Ill. she received her teaching degree at the University of Wisconsin at Platteville; after which she taught elementary school for 30 years, the last 25 of which at Whitnel Elementary School in Caldwell County.
She is both mourned and missed by her family and friends. Linda loved her large combined family and her love engulfed everyone. She felt the best things in life are the people we love and the moments we share. While she may no longer be with us in body, her spirit lives on in all who knew her. May the fairies dance and the music play, and we know she is watching over all of us.
She is survived by her loving husband and constant companion L. Clyde Cleveland. Together they had a family of six children. Linda’s daughters: Keri Dawson and wife Bonnie Brink and their two children Jacob and Addison Brink. Amy Jo and her husband Dave Burton. Clyde’s children son: Craig and wife Tasha Cleveland and their two children Madison and Caleb Cleveland; daughters Melissa Cleveland and husband Brian Thomas; Kathleen Cleveland and partner Mark Norton; Lisa Brown and husband Nate Brown. She is also survived by her sister Nancy and husband David Pierce and their children Charles Tisdial, Emily Tisdial and Dylan Pierce. She was preceded in death by her parents William and Janet Ahlgren and sister Karen Bottorf.
A visitation will be held at Bass-Smith Funeral Home in Hickory in the William E. “Jack” Bass Memorial Building on Saturday, February 9, 2019 from 1 - 3:00 p.m. with a celebration of her life to start at 2:15 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her honor to Hickory Community Theatre, c/o Linda Cleveland Seat Plaque, 30 3rd St., NW, Hickory, NC 28601.
