Lisa Ann Lail Whitener, 57, of Hickory, passed away Monday, January 7, 2019 at her home. Lisa was born on April 28, 1961 in Catawba County, to Bertha G. Lail and the late Victor A. Lail, Jr.

She worked as a phlebotomist at Frye Regional Medical Center for twenty-three years, followed by several years at Catawba Valley Medical Center.

Lisa could be the life of any party, and she certainly was a light in the lives of all the people she knew and loved. She had the soul of a servant and always put others first.

She was preceded in death by her father, Victor A. Lail, Jr., and two brothers-in-law, David Whitener and Brant Whitener.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Tommy A. Whitener and her beloved dog, Blue.

Lisa is also survived by her mother, Bertha G. Lail; sister, Sharon Deitz: husband, Bruce and children, Madison and Ben; sister, Becky Secrest: husband, Johnny and son, Scott Wilkinson and family; brother, Don Lail: wife, Melanie and daughters, Tori, Erin, and Katie; stepdaughter, Jennifer Garrett: husband, Tim and sons, Jack and Jason, and daughter, Chelsea; stepdaughter, Emily Whitener and son, Jordan; brother-in-law, Earl Whitener: wife, Pam; and brother-in-law, Bryan Whitener.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 12 at 1 P.M. at Abernethy Memorial United Methodist Church in Newton with Pastor Logan Miller officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 11:30 to 1 in the parlor prior to the memorial service.
