Lucille Cordell Marshall, 101 of Hickory, passed away on Saturday, April 13, 2019 at her home that she lived in and loved for the past 53 years, the place where there was always family, food, happiness and love. Lucille was born October 23, 1917 in Catawba County, she was the daughter of the late Otis Bradshaw (OB) Cordell and Jettie Huffman Cordell. She spent her entire life in Hickory attending Hickory City Schools and marrying the love of her life, Thomas Edgar Marshall. They had five children. Lucille was widowed in 1966, at a young age, and spent the rest of her life devoted to family and friends. She was a lifelong and the oldest member of Bethany Lutheran Church of Hickory. She worked many years at Burlington Industries and other jobs where she was always learning new skills.

She loved yard work, especially mowing her grass which she did well into her 80's. She also loved to cook for everyone, You always had to be ready to eat whether you were hungry or not!!! She touched many lives during her almost 102 years; often in times when they needed her most. She will be truly missed, but she is in God's hands now, reunited with the love of her life, Tom, her family, and friends. They are now celebrating her coming home.

In addition to her parents, Lucille was preceded in death by her husband, parents; brothers Everett (Lucille T.) and Burl; sisters Lovetta Eggers and Ruth Adkins; sons-in-laws Carroll Reese and Dudley Geouge and a grandson Michael Reese. Lucille is survived by her children: Rachel Geouge, Barbara Childers(Tobe), Gail Reese, Linda Triplett; son, Thomas A. Marshall(Vickie); sister, Frankie Caldwell; grandchildren; Darlene Craig, Bradley Geouge, Heather and Scarlett Childers, Carmen R. Watson(Jason), Kevin Reese(Sonya), Crystal T. Fansler(Brett) and Heath Marshall. Also, 11 great grandchildren and 10 great great grandchildren; Many nieces and nephews. Also lifelong family friend Nora C. Watson and long time care giver Joy Ledgister. She was very blessed to be taken care of by family in her home.

The family will receive friends from 2:00-3:00 p.m., Thursday April 18th prior to the funeral service at Bethany Lutheran Church in Hickory. The funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on the same day, Thursday April 18th at Bethany Lutheran Church in Hickory.

Pallbearers will be Kevin Reese, Heath Marshall, Jason Watson, Brett Fansler, Derek Whaley, Caleb Reese, Elijah Reese, Nicholas Reese and Sean Fansler. Honorary pallbearers will be Bradley Geouge, Derek Geouge, Ashley Craig and Ryan Craig.

The family of Lucille Marshall also wishes to extend a heartfelt thanks to all the staff at Medi Home Health and Hospice, they truly made this past year much easier. Also Catawba Regional Hospice, Gentiva Home Health (Kindred at Home) and Mt. View Family Practice for taking such good care of Lucille in her home. A very special thanks to her daughter, Linda Triplett for caring for the past 2 years. The family also wishes to extend a special thanks to the staff of Bass-Smith Funeral Home.
