Ray Henry Clontz, 83, of Conover, passed away Saturday, May 11, 2019 at Catawba Valley Medical Center.
Mr. Clontz was born September 7, 1935 in Catawba County to the late Henry Richard Clontz and Annie Yoder Clontz. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis K. Kiziah Clontz, four brothers; Johnny Clontz, Richard Wilson, Kenneth Yoder, and Ronald Clontz, and one sister, Gladys Travis.
Mr. Clontz was a member of St. Peters Lutheran Church where he was a very active member, he was a member of the National Guard, and was retired from Regal Manufacturing. He loved beekeeping with his brother Wayne, hunting, fishing, gardening or anything outdoors.
Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Tamara Wakefield and husband Doug of Granite Falls, grandson, Trent Wakefield of Charlotte, two brothers; Howard Clontz and wife Argel, and Wayne Clontz and wife Venita, two sisters; Phyllis Hines and Francis Brittain all of Hickory, and 11 nieces and 11 nephews.
The funeral service will be at 3:30 PM on Wednesday, May 15, 2019 with Lay Minister Eric Hauss officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 2:00 - 3:30 PM. Burial will be in the church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in his honor to St. Peters Lutheran Church, 6175 St. Peters Church Rd., Conover, N.C. 28613.
