Reginald Foard Rhoney died on June 3, 2019 at Catawba Valley Hospice from metastatic pancreatic cancer. He was formerly the owner and manager of Rhoney Furniture House and Paragon Mfg. Reggie was born on August 12, 1938 to the late Attley and Mary Finger Rhoney. His foster grandfather was the late Dr. Fred T. Foard for whom he was named.
He is survived by his two daughters and their husbands, Dr. Denise Hansel Rhoney-Metzger and Daniel L. Metzger of Chapel Hill, NC and Marla Beth and Charlie Nutting of Hickory. His three grandchildren, Samuel Alexander Metzger, Elle Elizabeth Nutting, and Benjamin Eli Nutting also survive. He was predeceased by his parents and sister, Nancy Ann Rhoney.
Reggie graduated from Hildebran High School '56 and Lenoir Rhyne College '60. He served in the NC Air National Guard and had held memberships in NC Furniture Association, Hickory Chamber of Commerce, and Hickory Jaycees. He had been a member of Mull's Chapel Baptist Church, Penelope Baptist Church, and St. Luke's Methodist.
The family will receive friends to celebrate his life on Saturday June 8, 2019 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the home of Marla and Charlie Nutting.
