Rita Gail Sipe Campbell, 71, of Hickory passed away on Tuesday, May 07, 2019 at Catawba Valley Medical Center.
Born November 26, 1947 in Catawba County, she was the daughter of the late Henry Floyd Sipe and Rose Ethel Cook Sipe. In addition to her parents, Rita was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Gary Campbell, her grandson, Matthew Alan Campbell, and her sister, Mickey Faye Sipe Bolick.
Rita was a lifetime member of Mt. Zion Lutheran Church. She worked as a Controller for J & L Motors of Hickory Inc for 20+ years and was a member of the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants. Rita was focused on her family. She was most proud of the accomplishment “World’s Best Grandma”.
Survivors include her daughter, Leslie Harris of the home; her son, Keith Campbell of Iredell County; her sister, Rosemary Schweigert and husband Vern of Phoenix, AZ; four grandchildren, Devon Harris of the home, Zachary Harris (serving in the USMC) and wife Julieanne, Christopher Campbell of Conover, and Lindsay Harris of the home; her former daughter-in-law, Carol Campbell of Conover; her beloved canine companion, Chloe; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, May 10, 2019 at Mt. Zion Lutheran Church with Pastor Scott Bollinger officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends prior to services from 9:30 am until 11:00 am.
Serving as pallbearers will be Ward Medlin, John Pope, DeWayne Setzer, Richie Rich, Vern Schweigert, and Tanner Mellon.
