Obituary

Ruby Gelene Honeycutt, 88, of Hickory, passed away Saturday, March 28, 2015 at Trinity Village in Hickory.

Ms. Honeycutt was born April 6, 1926 in Catawba County to the late Alfred Perry "AP" Honeycutt and Bennie Huffman Honeycutt. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by seven sisters; Ruth H. Hollar, Kate H. Moser, Meryl H. Harris, Helen H. Little, Violet H. Shell, Frances Honeycutt, and Vera H. Bolch, a brother, Guy Honeycutt.

She was a lifelong member of St. Stephen's Lutheran Church Missouri Synod and was retired from Hickory Springs.

Survivors include a daughter, Pamela Honeycutt Kanipe of Hickory, two grandsons; Tony Wayne Kanipe and wife Jessica of Newton and Jody Kanipe of Morganton, a granddaughter, Genia Tilton and husband Richard of Hickory, two great granddaughters; Leana Kanipe and Kaitlyn Kanipe, a great grandson, Ryan Walker, and a number of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, March 31 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Bass-Smith Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at St. Stephen's Lutheran Church Missouri Synod with the Rev. David Guelzow officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Ms. Honeycutt will lie in state from 12:30 – 1:00 PM.
