I am Steve Boone. I was born June 18, 1950 in Yancey Co. to Deward and Marie Boone. After a trip through the air force, I moved to Hickory and began working at Canipe and Lynn Motor Repair. On a Saturday night in April of 1984, I went to Tri-County Bar, where I met my future wife Joy Propst. We married in September of '84 and began our journey. Along the way, we added our daughter, Joanna Boone. Summer months were spent outdoors kayaking, fishing, gardening, camping or cruising. Winters were spent carving and planning my next kayaking trips. I was diagnosed with Pulmonary Fibrosis in May of 2016 and began fulfilling my bucket list. I managed to check off most of my wishes on my list before I left this world on January 5th 2019 at 8:30 PM at home with my wife and brother Keith.
I leave behind my wife, Joy (Jo) Boone of 34 yrs, our daughter Joanna, son-in-law Josh Siary, sister-in-law Ellen Propst of Morganton, as well as Cletus P Dawg, who I rescued and has been literally at my side ever since, and his sidekick Larry, our cat. Also 4 siblings: Larry and wife Nancy Boone of Burnsville,Janice Wilson and husband Kenny of Hickory, Gail and husband Jerry Whitener of Vale, Keith Boone of Taylorsville, and more neices, nephews and great neices and nephews that I can count. A Family and Friends Gathering will be held at The Venue in Mt. View on Friday January 11th, 2019 at 6 PM. I want everyone to gather and have a wonderful time telling lies about me.
