Thelma Louise Hardin, 96, died peacefully June 4th at Abernathy Laurels of Newton. Thelma was born January 20, 1923 in Todd, NC to the late Pet and Daniel Jones. She was married to Fred Hardin September 13, 1947 until his death on March 15, 2006. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, a half-brother, and a sister.
A service of remembrance will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, June 7, 2019 at Bass-Smith Funeral Home.
Thelma worked tirelessly as a homemaker and mother, enjoying gardening, cooking, and bargain hunting. She once said her greatest life accomplishment was raising her two children.
Thelma's memory will be cherished by her son, Rick Hardin and daughter-in-law Marie of Conover; daughter, Kathy Hardin and son-in-law Gil Long of Hickory; grandson, Graham Long and his wife Ashley Smith of Seattle, WA; granddaughter, Sallie Long of Hickory; three great grandchildren, Grayson, Gillian, and Cora Mae; her sister Betty Nell Jones of Greensboro; and her brothers, Basil Jones of Todd and DR Jones, Jr. of West Jefferson.
The family would like to especially thank the doctors, nurses, and staff of Abernathy Laurels for their unflagging kindnesses and patience during her stay there.
