Harold C. Williams, 69, of Hickory passed away June 10, 2017 at his residence. Harold did not want an obituary or a formal service but his life made such an impact on us all that it seems appropriate to share the following tributes from some of his many friends.
Here's a toast to you
To me you were the very most
You were my friend in every way
And so it is with love
And much appreciation that I say good day. (Jean)
Harold was as kind, loyal, and considerate a friend as I will ever have. He gave to me the most enduring compliment of my life when he said, "I want to be like Bill and not say anything if I don't want to!" I will miss him. (Bill)
In most of the Hickory Community, one never needed to say "Harold Williams" because "Harold" was "Harold." Everyone knew him; everyone liked him! If you were his customer, he honored you! But customer or not, he was everyone's friend.
He contributed to his community, not only monetarily, but also actively- hosting tours of his home as well as his gardens- whatever he could share! He traveled states away to do "his brides" hair and makeup, as ONLY he could do it! In any situation, he was ready to give of himself.
He will be missed! He cannot be replaced! He was a unique, complicated and loving person. He was "Harold." (Lynn)
I have so many happy memories of my Harold. He was a kind and giving person. His gift of warmth always put my silent side at ease. I love you and you will be missed. (Arlene)
Harold was the Big Kahuna of hair, fun, kindness and generosity; and I loved him- you always knew where you stood with him. (Lynn)
Harold was gracious and kind-He helped people both emotionally and financially. We will miss his quick wittedness and his love of animals. (Kathy)
A dear long-life friend, devoted and caring neighbor, an avid supporter of Sipes Orchard Home------innumerable list of attributes represent Harold's life. All will miss his willingness to provide a listening ear or a helping hand. Cherished memories of our friendship will remain. Quite remarkable! (Bill & Judith)
Friends for 56 years. During that time he was my employer for 11 years, my mentor in early stages of my career, the host of MANY sumptuous and rowdy dinner parties. Always the instigator of great fun. Through it all, he was always, always generous with libations, his laughter and his love. (Ed & Stan)
Harold is survived by his partner, Craig Blackman of the home; mother, Ethyl Whitener Williams and brother Larry Marshall of Melrose, Fl.
My partner for almost 30 years, I will miss his loving and caring soul. I pray there is a Rainbow Bridge so he may rejoin our four legged friends, never to be separated again. (Craig)
"When we are met with cynicism and doubts and those who tell us that we can't, we will respond with that timeless creed that sums up the spirit of a people: Yes, we can." President Barack Obama, Victory speech 2008.
