Edgar Henry Link, 89, of Hickory, passed away Friday, July 14, 2017 at Catawba Valley Medical Center.
Mr. Link was born February 2, 1928 in Winnebago County, Wisconsin to the late Archibald Link and Alice Raeder Link. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Sue Link, 2 brothers; Gerald and Milton Link, and 1 sister, Marie Link Hager.
He served in the U.S. Army, was a member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, American Legion Post #48 Hickory, and was retired from Northern Illinois University as an electronic technician and owner of Ed’s TV & Appliance in Genoa,Il. He loved gardening, fishing and his Chicago Cubs. Most of all he was very dedicated to his family; a beloved husband, dad, grandfather and friend.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Vera Lucille Marty Link of the home, a son, Larry Link and wife Janna of Sycamore, Il, 4 daughters; Karen Miller and husband Gary of South Beloit, Il, Marilee Duffield and husband Joe of Athens, GA, Holly McNeill and husband Ken of Lenoir, NC and Sheryl Dauksha and husband Paul of Batavia, Il, 2 sisters; Florence Link Hastreiter and Lauralee Link Lenz, a brother, Ray Link all of Marshfield, WI, 12 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, July 20, 2017 at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church with the Rev. Joe Westfall and the Rev. Cindy Wechter officiating. A reception will follow the service in the Family Life Center. At the family’s request, please dress casual as this is what Mr. Link would have wanted.
Military honors will be provided by American Legion Post #48 of Hickory.
