Lucille Rhoda Teague Cordell, 101, of Hickory, passed away Monday, April 16, 2018 at White Oak Manor Nursing Home in Shelby, NC.
Born February 17, 1917 in Caldwell County, she was the daughter of the late Keener Franklin Teague and Martha Helton Teague Hunt.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Paul Sigmon; second husband, Everette Cordell; and 6 brothers and sisters.
Lucille was a charter member of Calvary Baptist Church where she volunteered in many aspects from helping with the nursery to cleaning the church. She was a true servant both to the Lord and to all the people who knew her. She will be missed by all.
She is survived by her son, John Sigmon of Marion; granddaughters: Judith Duncan of Gastonia, Melissa Hunsinger and fiancé Forest Jackson of Shelby, Cynthia Webb of Asheville, Angela Smith and husband Jeffrey of Morganton, Tabitha Brown and husband Shane of Morganton; 10 great-grandchildren, one great-grandchild and 8 nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, April 20, 2018 at Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Bert Dixon officiating. Burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends prior to the service at the church from 2 - 3:00 p.m.

The following verse is one of Lucille’s favorites from 2nd Corinthians 5: 6-8:
6 Therefore we are always confident and know that as long as we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord. 7 For we live by faith, not by sight. 8 We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord.
