Obituary

Helen Roberts Reed, 89 of Hickory, passed away Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at the Carolina Cares Hospice House.

Born March 6, 1930, in Detroit Michigan, she was the daughter of Albert Roberts and Dorothy Dunipace.

Helen was a member of St. Andrews Lutheran Church in Hickory.

Helen was an extremely active member in numerous church and community organizations who passionately put the needs of others and especially those less fortunate above the needs of herself. She was a fun loving individual who was a joy and loved by all who knew her throughout the community and beyond.

Helen was preceded in death by her father, Albert Roberts, mother Dorothy Dunipace, sister Rhoda Talso, half brothers Matt Zoulek, Floyd Zoulek, Raymond Zoulek, Tom Zoulek, John Zoulek, and half-sisters Lynn McNamara, Irene Lasky and Louise Razzonlini.

She is survived by her sons Bradley Dickerson Reed of Melbourne Florida, Robert Christopher Reed of Everett Washington, Geoffrey Daniel Reed of Columbus Ohio, daughter Sarah Elizabeth Perez of Worthington Ohio and brother James Zoulek of Mission Viejo California and half-sister Anne Cunningham of Las Vegas, Nevada.

A memorial service will be held at 11am on Monday, June 3rd at St. Andrews Lutheran Church in Hickory. The family would like to invite all those who wish to celebrate her life to stay for a “potluck” luncheon (per mom’s request) in the fellowship hall at the church immediately after the service.

A private burial will be held at a date yet to be determined in the St. Andrew’s memorial garden.

Bass-Smith Funeral Home in Hickory is serving the family of Helen Roberts Reed.
