Rosemary Bass Young

Became President of Bass-Smith after the death of her husband, William E. "Jack" Bass, Jr., She is a 1965 graduate of Lenoir Rhyne College and has been a licensed funeral director since 1989.

Katie Bass Scheide

Katie is the daughter of Rosemary and Jack Bass. Joined the firm in 1991 and has been a licensed funeral director for 20 years and is heavily involved in pre-need sales. Katie is a 1988 graduate of Wofford College. 

Molly Bass

Daughter of Rosemary and Jack Bass. She has been doing community outreach for the firm since 1996. She is a 1990 graduate of Davidson College and received her masters of Fine Arts from UCLA in 1994.

Mitch Sigmon

Licensed Funeral Director/General Manager

Has served as Bass-Smith's general manager for over 15 years. He has been a licensed funeral director since 2007. Mitch is a 1993 graduate of Western Carolina University.

Chris Rollins

A South Carolina native, Chris is a graduate of Gupton-Jones College of Mortuary Science with a full-service degree in funeral service. He joined Bass-Smith in 1999 and has over 30 years experience in the funeral industry. 

Wesley Sluder

Licensed Funeral Service/Crematory Manager

A Caldwell County native, he began working at the Bass-Smith Granite location in 2007. He is now based in Hickory and has his full service funeral directors license. Wesley brings over 20 years experience to the firm.

Jackson Mitchell Sigmon

Jackson Mitchell Sigmon, grandson of Rosemary and Jack Bass, is a fourth generation funeral director. He has worked for Bass-Smith since 2022. He is a Hickory native and a graduate of Lenoir-Rhyne University. 

Natasha Kabar

A California native, Natasha has been a full-service licensee since 2005 and specializes in restorative arts. She has worked in the funeral industry for over 20 years.

Tommy Young

Licensed Funeral Director/Pre-need Specialist

Tommy has been licensed in Funeral Directing since 2021 and has come to Bass-Smith Funeral Home as a preneed sales specialist.  He graduated from Liberty University with a degree in Theology.

Barry Miller, Sr.

Born and raised in Caldwell Co., Barry is the Manager of our Granite Falls location. He is a graduate of Gupton-Jones College of Mortuary Science and has over 40 years experience as a full service licensee.
